Floor cloths are hand-painted canvas rugs that are extremely flexible and durable. They were very popular in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Designs were used then, that simulated marbled pavement or patterned tiles. The presence of floor cloths on tile, hardwood, laminate, linoleum and concrete floors is staging an exciting comeback today.
The designs on a floor cloth
are painted on heavy duty primed canvas using latex and acrylic paints. The
final work of art is protected on both sides with a clear, acrylic sealer that
is resistant to dirt, stains and ultraviolet rays. If a cloth were to become
soiled, you may simply wipe it clean with any mild liquid cleanser.
